Each year, hundreds of children in Bartholomew, Decatur and Jennings counties enter the child protection system because their families are in crisis. Through no fault of their own, these children have been removed from their homes, and placed in a system that, filled though it is with caring individuals, is often ill-equipped to guarantee that their needs are met.
The solution to this dilemma is a Court Appointed Special Advocate - a CASA volunteer. Men and women from all walks of life, CASA volunteers provide these children with a powerful voice in the courtroom. Often the only stable adult influence in these children's lives, CASA volunteers work to ensure that each child finds his or her way as quickly as possible into the caring embrace of a safe, loving, and permanent home.
This April, Advocates for Children will host a training course for new Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers. These classes will meet twice each week over the course of six weeks in our training facility located in Columbus, IN. At the end of this course, volunteers will be fully prepared to take their first case.
To join this class, simply RSVP below, and a member of our staff will be in touch to help you complete the application process.
