    CASA Training Class

04032017_Training_Link_Image_1.jpgEach year, nearly 500 children in Bartholomew, Decatur and Jennings counties enter the child protection system because their families are in crises.  Through no fault of their own, these children have been removed from their homes, and placed in a system that, filled though it is with caring individuals, is often ill-equipped to guarantee that their needs are met.

The solution to this dilemma is a Court Appointed Special Advocate - a CASA volunteer.  Men and women from all walks of life, CASA volunteers provide these children with a powerful voice in the courtroom.  Often the only stable adult influence in these children's lives, CASA volunteers work to ensure that each child finds his or her way as quickly as possible into the caring embrace of a safe, loving, and permanent home.

This April, Advocates for Children will host a training class for new Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers.  This month's class will be held during daytime hours and will meet three times a week throughout the month.  At the end of this course, volunteers will be fully prepared to take their first case.
