Advocates for Children received an extra gift this holiday season, with the announcement of a new partnership for 2017 with Family Chiropractic and Wellness of Columbus, Indiana. Family Chiropractic has selected the agency as its sponsored charity for the year, and will assist throughout the year to spread the word about the agency's work on behalf of area victims of child abuse and neglect.
"One of our missions at Family Chiropractic and Wellness is to make our a community a better place," said Dr. Mandy Wyant. "We do that every day by providing natural healthcare to our patients, but our greater purpose lies in partnering with organizations like Advocates for Children. Throughout 2017 we will be fundraising and advocating for this wonderful program both in our office and within the Columbus community. We hope to not only donate a sizable amount of money, but also inspire someone, or a few someones!, to become CASA volunteers this year."
In addition to the promotional efforts, Family Chiropractic and Wellness has agreed to a generous financial contribution in support of Advocates for Children's mission. Family Chiropractic will serve as a Spotlight Sponsor for the agency's spring fundraising event, Crooners for CASA, and will also be the Presenting Sponsor of the agency's premier fall event, Night of a Thousand Jacks.
"We are deeply appreciative of this opportunity to partner with Family Chiropractic and Wellness," said Advocates for Children Executive Director Therese Miller. "With record numbers of vulnerable children entering the child protection system, the need for Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers is as great as ever, and the funds provided by Family Chiropractic and Wellness will help ensure that every victim of child abuse and neglect has a powerful voice speaking up for them. We look forward to working together throughout the year."
CASA volunteers serve as officers of the court and represent the best interest of children who have been removed from their homes due to issues of abuse and neglect. Advocates for Children trains and supports these volunteers, equipping them with the tools to guarantee that these children's needs remain front and center during their time in the child protection system. Each CASA volunteer works to ensure that these children find their way as quickly as possible into the loving embrace of a safe and permanent home.
A training class for new Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers will begin in January, and will consist of 36 hours of training spread over the course of six weeks. Anyone interested in attending the class or receiving additional information is encouraged to sign up online, or contact the agency's office at (812) 372-2808.
