Advocate Profile
During 2008, 150 CASA volunteers advocated for 437 children in the four county region we serve. The average age of CASA volunteers is in the 50-59 age range. Thirty percent of CASA volunteers are age 60 and over...and...18% are between ages 40-49. Seventy-nine percent of volunteers are women and 21% are men. Forty-six percent are employed full time, while 23% work part-time. The remainder are either retired or not currently working. Some people considering becoming CASA volunteers think about it for up to 2 years before making the commitment to become and advocate for a child. CASA volunteers represent a wide variety of individuals in the community; many are high school graduates while many have college and/or post graduate degrees; some are working mothers while many others are stay-at-home moms. The average length of time that volunteers stay active with the program is 4 years.
